CAPTAIN RANDY VAUGHN, ACADEMY DIRECTOR
Captain Vaughn was appointed the Director of LEAT in 2018 after retiring as a 30 year veteran from the Tuscaloosa Police Department. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and has a B.S. from the University of Alabama.
CAPTAIN CLAY GIBBS, SENIOR COORDINATOR
Captain Gibbs was named the Senior Training Coordinator of the LEAT in May 2021 after retiring from the Tuscaloosa Police Department with 29 years of service. He had previously served at the LEAT from 2002-2006. He is a graduate FBI National Academy #264 and has an A.S. in Criminal Justice.
SERGEANT WES JACOBS, ADVANCE COORDINATOR
Sergeant Jacobs has been with the Tuscaloosa Police Department since 2001 and is a bomb tech on the Hazardous Devices Unit. He has served with LEAT since 2015.
JANET SMELLEY, EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT
Mrs. Smelley has served as the Executive Assistant for the Law Enforcement Academy since its inception in 2000. Previously she served with Phifer Wire Products for 18 years.
