INTERVIEWS AND BODY LANGUAGE TECHNIQUES
This tuition-free, 8-hour Multijurisdictional Counterdrug Task Force Training course will address techniques for assessing transnational offenders through knowledge of interview techniques, body language and eye patterns. At the conclusion of this course, the student will be able to apply successful interrogations techniques to detect deception or truthfulness in an individual while obtaining intelligence on transnational crime which may encompass terrorism, drug cartels and counter terrorist finance investigations.

Instructor Kelly Montoya is a retired Detective from the Boise Police Department with over 25 years of investigative experience. He began his career his Law Enforcement career in 1994 as a Jail Deputy with the Canyon County Sheriff’s Department. In 1995, Mr. Montoya transferred to the Narcotics Division were he primarily worked undercover assisting other State and Federal Agencies. He was also select for S.W.A.T. serving as an Entry Operator and K9 Handler. In 1998, he was promoted to Sergeant where he served as the Supervisor for a Multi-Jurisdictional Narcotics Unit. In 2003, Mr. Montoya was promoted to Lieutenant overseeing the Criminal Investigation Division and was appointed to S.W.A.T. Commander. In 2007, Mr. Montoya began working for the Boise Police Department. During his time with B.P.D. Mr. Montoya was assigned to the Narcotics Division along with being selected to the Special Operations Group. As a Narcotics Detective Mr. Montoya continued to work undercover assisting other State and Federal agencies as an FBI Task Force Officer along with training new Narcotics Officers. As a member of the Special Operation Group he served as an Entry Operator, and Sniper as well as being trained as a Hostage Negotiator. Mr. Montoya holds degrees in Criminal Justice and Psychology as well as a Law Enforcement Masters certificate
