Huntsville Police Department APOSTC Basic Tactical Operators School

The course is being taught by APOSTC certified instructors which are made up mainly of active Huntsville Police Department SWAT Team and Special Operations members.

Cost is Free, but the parent agency will have to cover the cost of room and board if needed by their officers.

Applicants are required to take a shooting and PT test. Shooting test is a standard APOSTC qualification course with a minimum 90% score. The PT test is a 1mile run, push- ups, sit-ups and bench press, scaled on age and gender.

This is a 40 hour course that will include instruction in:

SWAT Equipment and Weapons; Perimeter Operations; Tactical Communications; Breaching (Manual/Mechanical);Team Movement; Entry Skills and Clearing; Weapon Skills (Handgun and Long/sub-gun); Chemical Munitions and Less Lethal Options; Practical Exercises.
