Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office Training Center

This course will focus on the use of white light in scotopic environments.
Classroom lecture will cover light selection and efficient switchology as well as optimal mounting options for weapon mounted lights. Students will also be exposed to data, video diagnostics and human anatomy and behavior in scotopic environments. The principals of white light use will be covered extensively and legacy myths will be challenged.
This four night course will cover:
Light selection
Handheld lighting techniques
Handgun and carbine weapon mounted light techniques
Working the handheld light and WML in conjunction
Target discretion
Positional work (positions of necessity vs. positions of advantage)
Principals of movement / pattern of movement
Barricade and vehicle work
Live fire shoot house
Room clearing procedures
Force on Force
Exigent medical work

Individual student equipment list
Handgun w/ all support equipment
Carbine ( or long gun equivalent ) w/ all support equipment
Capable handheld flashlight
Handgun WML
Carbine WML
Lots of spare batteries, chargers, etc.
800 rounds handgun
800 rounds carbine
Ballistic vest / plates
Ballistic helmet (for live fire shoot house work)
Expendable medical gear:
Compressed gauze
Chest seal
Minimum of 8 chem lights or equivalent PID device
Force on Force gear needed:
Sims handgun
Sims carbine conversion
250 rounds sims handgun
250 rounds sims carbine
Head/ear/face/neck/ protective FoF helmet
**Anyone that doesn’t have the necessary FoF gear/guns/equipment let me know asap

Night 1 – handgun focus

Night 3 – live fire shoot house work

On site lodging at the Training Facility is FREE to the students. All students registering for the class will automatically have a room reserved at the Training Facility. All bedding, bath and toiletries are provided.
