The Alabama Impaired Driving Enforcement Program will be conducting
TRAINING DATES: NOVEMBER 8, 2021
TRAINING TIMES: 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
TRAINING SITE: Tuscaloosa Police Academy
Tuscaloosa, AL
THIS IS NOT A SFST INSTRUCTOR INITIAL CERTIFICATION COURSE.
This class is intended for personnel who have already completed the NHTSA/IACP SFST Instructor
Course and have the 2016 Alabama SFST Standards for SFST Instructors and have a valid
Alabama SFST Instructor Number.
The goal of this course is to provide SFST instructors with the latest NHTSA curricula and review the
Alabama State SFST Standard. Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to conduct DUI
Detection, and SFST training programs for academies and SFST Refresher classes for anyone requesting
them. The class will focus on the new 2018 manual and the changes that have been made in the SFST
curricula.
ALL INSTRUCTORS WILL BE GIVEN A SFST PRACTICAL EXAM AND MUST COMPLETE WITH ZERO ERRORS.
The Alabama Standard for SFST training requires all SFST Instructors to complete at least 4 hours of
teaching SFST Curriculum annually and attend SFST Instructor Update Training biannually. Also all SFST
Instructors must attend update training every 2 years to remain in compliance with Alabama State SFST
Standards in order keep their status as a SFST Instructor.
PREREQUISITES: Students who attend this course must have already completed the NHTSA SFST
Instructor Course.

All training cost for this course is funded through a grant from ADECA and is free training to all full time APOST Certified Officers.
